The Road Not Taken

At this junction of life, I am reminded of a classical poem that i have learnt in the English Literature subject when i was in form 4. Which is The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. This is how it goes : -

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.


I still remember the essence of this poem clearly. The literal meaning of this poem is pretty obvious to me. A traveler has come to a junction, or to be exact, a fork in the road, has to decide which road he shall take to continue his journey. After much consideration, he has decided to take the road less traveled by, to explore the possibilies and differences it might hold for him.

This poem clearly describes my situation now. The tough choices i have to face while traveling the road of life.
Should i just continue to study? or just get my ass into the working life? I can't decide.
