Job-Sicker

I have become a job sicker from seeker. I am sick of finding job, waiting for news and interviewing.

Ever since the interview C, I never hear from the company again, until today, the HR girl called me up. I was heppi for a second because I thought they were going to hire me. Apparently, the HR girl has lost my stuff, my certs, IC and everything. So, she asked me to pass it to her again next week.

Well, I hope that means something.

Why Is The Rum Gone?

Well, after so many poohs that I went through, I still haven't landed myself a job, I am beginning to question myself. Why is it so hard for me to find a job while others having job choices flocking to them.

Is it because of my academic results? Or my presentation during the interviews? I think the job seekers' world has become very competitive now. When employers are spoilt by choices, they become very demanding. Not many employers accept fresh grad, they want the 'experienced fresh grad'. Saddening to me indeed. And, come to the reality, I found out what I have learnt through out the U days did not give much of help. Reality is, you really need alot of practical knowledge and hands on experience yourself to meet the requirements of the corporative world. They don't only look at your results, they test your knowledge, technical skills, general knowledge, the way you present yourself. Even the current affairs! Man. That's a hell lot of traumatizing experience.

So, after all these, I think I am really traumatized and depressed. And, I think, I should be screaming right now.. Why is the rum gone????

Experienced Fresh Grad?

So, I have just reloaded my interview experience, once again.

I went for an interview at an recruitment company for the position of Management Associate. In the job description, as below:

-Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
-Strong interest in business planning and development
-
Good interpersonal and people management skills
-
Fresh graduates/Entry level applicants are encouraged to apply
-etc

So, looking at the description, it does not sound like a pure programming job for me. During the interview, i was asked about the technical questions such as programming languages.. etc. Man, that was the least I expected. I did not expect it to turn out to be like a programming test. I was asked about the details of my previous assignments... man that was like years ago! I haven't touched any programming for almost a year. I really suck.

The company is encouraging fresh grad to apply, but they have demanding requirements, I would say.. they are looking for experienced fresh grad. Very contradicting indeed. So, I supposed, the job oppo flew away..

Great, now I have more experiences! God bless me.

Sucky Interview B

I attended an interview with company X a week ago, as a post of IT support. So, the atmosphere was quite relaxing initially. But it began to become more and more tensed as they asked me more and more job & non-job related questions.

Some employees are wicked. They like to laugh at your results or whatever is attached with your CV. I mean....can't they just shut up and look through? Do you need to insult your interviewee?
And.. they almost tested me on setting a X router on the spot..thank god they did not.

I hate interviews.

Interview C

Yah... I have yet to come up with Interview B, but I decided to jump to Interview C, which I just came back from, and it's still fresh in my head. The interview was with a reputable company in Malaysia.

As usual, I was asked to fill up a form with details, education...etc. I find it really a pain to fill in all these particulars esp when you have answered them a zillion times. But heck, you gotta do it even though if you hate it. And, to my greatest horror, I was again, required to answer a compulsory questions. Asked for opinions on current affairs.

Oh god, I fainted. I think, sooner or later, I will become an interview-expert.

The Interview Concussion

I have attended 2 interviews recently and I shall share my experience here:

Interview A :
I went for an interview at a local bank for some IT position. As usual, I was given some tests. First set of Qs were tough. There were 10 grammar questions, 5 subjective IQ Qs, 10 IQ questions and 10 Mathematical Qs, all this with only 30 minutes.

Well, there was not a single easy-peasy-beasy question if you ask me. But, it could also be my stupidity. The maths were the killer. They asked stuff like.. x is something, y is something, find z. It's written there that you cannot do any calculation, so, the only way to answer is by using your brains. My maths has always been weak and I had a miserable time struggling to answer. Even the grammar questions were tough!

The next paper was an essay writing with 15 mins of time given. There were few topics to choose from and I chose : What do you think is more important to you? Pay or jobscope? I did not answer an OR question, I chose to answer BOTH important. I mean, cmon, if you get a job that you really really really like and interested in, but they pay you like only RM1000 a month?
Let's get practical. Who can live on that man??

So, after answering those questions, an interview was followed. As usual, a lot of standard questions asked. What's your interest... tell me about yourself... job expectation..... blah. Of course, there were also some unexpectedly tough questions. When everything ended, they promised a result would be given to me within 2 weeks, either yes or no. But until now..2 weeks, still no news, so I supposed the it's gone.

God oh god.. Why is it so hard to find a job???

Interview B shall be continued tomorrow...

Annoying People

Some people are really annoying. When they know you are still unemployed and looking for job. They came to tell you about how frequent they get calls for interviews eventhough they have not applied any job. How busy their work was.. until they had no time to entertain the interview calls.

Damn! Don't you just feel like shooting them in the a$$?

Pros & Cons of SOHO

Before I quit my job, I was sort of working at home myself, although I was under employment.

Before I started to work at home, I whined about how boring it was having to go to office everyday, finding parking was annoying, if u get compounds is even more hell. I could list hundreds and hundreds of benefits of working at home. Like, you could save petrol money, you could manage your time better, you could get out of bed and work directly without having to clean yourself and no one cares! Most of all, you have more freedom! Who doesn't like the idea right?

But, I think otherwise now. Working at home was really really boring, you got no one to talk to, the only thing I talked to was my computer, I sat in front of computer day and night, working, surfing, watching drama, etc. I started to lose the ability to communicate with others, I did not know how to talk to a total stranger after few months of working alone at home. I noticed this because I had to attend events at times, so, I immediately knew I could not go on like this anymore. This is not me, I am so talkative and I love talking to people, and yet, I became autistic. Isn't saddening?

Flexible working hours could also mean irregular working hours. No matter how tired I was, I couldn't go to bed in the middle of night because I had to complete some work before I slept. Eventually, I started to develop insomnia, I had sleepless nights thinking about the incomplete work. It became real bad when I struggled in bed for 2 or 3 hours just to sleep. Damn. Regardless of the level of fatigue, I just wouldn't fall asleep.

So, without further thinking, I knew I had to quit this job. When you whine about how tiring is having to go to office, think about this, when you get the chance of bragging in office with colleagues, talking bad about your boss with them, waste some time making coffee, aren't all these wonderful?

I Am Depressed.

After several months of hunting job, I am started to feel depressed. Although I am actually enjoying my life now, but I still can't help to feel depressed.

Damn, is it so hard to find a job what you want?

I think so. I have been browsing the online job portal for some time, or sometimes flip through the papers, but, why??? Why isn't there any job that suits me?

A Phone Interview

A couple of hours ago, I received a call from Microsoft Malaysia. I sent my application about 2 months back for their EMP 2007 to try out my luck. And I almost forgot about it.

The first questions that the interviewer asked me were:
1. Are you currently employed?
2. Are you still interested in our program?
3. Are you clear about what our program is about?

Regarding the 3rd question, actually I had forgotten the details, but, of course, I did not say I didn't remember. Thank god, I was sitting right in front of my computer and I managed to track back the job details and my application.
*You should really jot your whatever application down in notepad for easy access, they really come in handy.

The phone interview took about 20 mins, and, the questions asked were pretty standard, like :

-Tell me about yourself
-Did you face any challenge during your school days
-Are you a leader in team, what would you do under what circumstances
-blah blah blah

I find it less pressure to talk through phone actually. At least you don't meet them face to face, and they won't see how nervous you are, how hard are you trying to stop grabbing your own fist.

God bless me.

Being jobless

It's actually fun to be jobless, I am actually enjoying it. :D
But, I can't stay like this for too long, I have marked some opportunities in the papers and going to send out resume tomorrow. I keep finding excuses to delay this, I am lazy........
